Do you guys like Yuri on Ice? OMG! I LOVE figure skating! Not skating myself, mind you, but watching. Honestly… I suck when it comes to skating and the cold is not my thing either. But man, watching dudes like Scott Hamilton, Kurt Browning, Brian Boitano (totally dating myself here) one of the highlights of my youth. Then in my adulthood came Yuri Katsuki. Yuri is ice skating, anime, and music! Dudes, what more could I want?!?

Now, I know you’re wondering why I’m bringing up Yuri on Ice. Well, outside of the anime, it’s the musical intro, History Maker. Thank you songwriter, Dean Fujioka! If you haven’t heard the song, I suggest you give it listen because it has become the theme song to this new Act in my life. Act I was probably Country Roads by John Denver, Thriller by Michael Jackson, and Paradise City by Guns N’ Roses. Act II: Groove is in the Heart by Dee-Lite, You Didn’t Know Me When by Harry Connick, Jr., and No Need to Argue by the Cranberries. Now, I’m in Act III, and I’m ready to make my dreams come true. Not on the ice… remember, I suck there… but with my writing.

When I hit the gym at 5am, dudes, it’s EARLY! I need something to get me going, and thinking about Yuri and how he pulled himself up from what so many believed was a career ending season… inspirational! I know what you’re thinking… “Nkrumah, there are so many inspirational people IRL.” You’re very correct, however, they don’t come with their own theme music, and I need something to jam to on the elliptical.
